Initial Evaluation

  • The therapist will conduct an initial evaluation that will last up to 1 hour. This is for the therapist to gauge where your child is at developmentally and what they will need to work on in the future if therapy is recommended.

  • We ask that your child wear socks with tennis shoes for their evaluation for Occupational Therapy

  • The patient’s siblings are not allowed to accompany them

  • We recommend that parents stay in the waiting area during the evaluation.

After the Evaluation

  • The therapist will write up an Evaluation report and a Plan of Care. This will take roughly 10-14 business days as these are very detailed.

    • The Evaluation report will include the therapists’ findings from the evaluation and end with if therapy or recommended or not.

    • The Plan of Care will include several Long-Term Goals and Short-Term Goals.

  • Once the therapist has completed these, someone from the front office will fax the documents to the child’s doctor’s office for the doctor to sign.

  • When we receive the doctor’s signature, we will verify with your insurance if a Prior Authorization is required. If so, a request will be submitted.

  • The insurance company has 30 days to respond with an approval or denial; however, most insurance companies only take around 1 week. (With the exception of straight Medicaid, they can take 2-3 weeks.)

  • After we hear back from insurance, we will give you a call to get your child scheduled for regular appointments. We typically schedule on a recurring basis every week. Therapy is usually recommended 1-2 times per week depending on the child and the results from their evaluation.

*Please know that we try our best to speed this process along; however, there can sometimes be delays outside of our control. We will do our best to keep you updated throughout the process or you can give us a call to get an update!
