Occupational Therapy Practitioners (OTs) work with children experiencing delays or challenges in development. They work with each child on self-care, as well as everyday tasks at home or school to help children achieve independence by improving their physical, cognitive, and social functioning.

OTs identify and modify barriers that interfere with or restrict a child’s functional performance. By adapting activities, materials, and environmental conditions children can participate under different conditions and in various environments. To extend therapeutic intervention outside of the clinic, OTs also teach skills and strategies to children and their families.

Sessions may include exercises and activities that focus on one or more of the following:

  • Fine Motor Skills

  • Sensory Integration

  • Eye-Hand Coordination

  • Visual Perceptual Skills

  • Visual Motor Integration

  • Motor Planning
